Process: The Mermaid

So, I said I wanted to do a mermaid and since I told you all, I didn't want to keep you waiting. Not to mention that I wanted to give it to my aunt as a belated Christmas gift and I wanted to have it done by the time I visited. Well, the visit was for this past weekend and she loved it. I decided to take pics after each layer of paint...I did pretty good. I only forgot to take one. I'm not sure how long it took me from start to finish, I rarely work on one piece at a time. Anyway, here goes:

FAN-FLIPPIN'-TASTIC! I really needed to see this...I have decided to dive into art doll making as part of the art I will be producing for my Master's program...I'm ready to dive in. There will be a lot of painting going on, a concept that frightens and exites me.

Thanks for the step by step pics! I enjoy seeing another artist's process.

Artina: What's an art doll?

I'm going to try to do this again. I just need to find something else that will require multiple layers. I wasn't sure how this would turn out, but I liked the way the different steps looked side by side. COOL indeed Sankofa.
