Big Numbers: Christmas III

Remember earlier this year when I made the scrapbook for my chapter? Well, I made another one as a Christmas gift. I'm counting it as 3 pieces again. lol. It took a looooong time.

I did this one for Bf. We've been dating our asses off and we wanted something to kind of detail all the stuff we've done so far. I couldn't quite get them all, but I got a lot of goodies in there. Of course, I'm not going to share the whole thing with you, but it's about 26 pages. Once we decide on a title, I'll paint the cover and give you all an update.

Big Numbers: Christmas II

I hadn't mentioned squat to my friends about sending them gifts, but I couldn't NOT do it. I've had a rough year and without them there would have been a window much higher up than the kitchen that would have had my sweet and (not so) petite body plastered to it's edge. I'm sure. I kept it simple though. With only 9 days til Christmas and a LOAD of things left to do I didn't want to stress myself out. I knew they wouldn't like that. 

I think I mentioned this before, but I LOVE bangles/bracelets. I'm not sure when this happened, but I'd rather do bracelets and earrings than earrings and a nekklace. So, I decided to share a little of me with them. Artina sent me a very large box full of inspiration and I used it to make all these bangles for my earth angels. I have a lot left, so you'll be able to order yours too, if you like. Here are the ones I made my friends.

Big Numbers: Christmas I

Howdy folks. I couldn't post these prior to Christmas, because the internet is far too nosy. I didn't want to ruin anyone's Christmas surprise.

Here's my first Christmas item. A hoodie for a teenage girl. She's a leo and a Wiz Khalifa fan. Her fav color is purple and her name is Shanee. My client really liked the design I did on these hoodies I did last year, so I mushed all that together and I got this:

On the 12th day of Christmas...

This is my most favorite piece EVER! It has a few of my favorite things. A peacokk. Bright colors. SYM style. Everything about how this came together and ended up makes me happy. It was just amazing. I love it. And I had no desire to keep it. I was glad to see it go. I felt like he deserved a good home that has lots of company and people to ogle over his fanciness.

On the 11th day of Christmas...

Y'all just nasty. (Yep, I started my post like that.) Everybody was suggesting this was some kind of freaky scene. Gutter brains. This was actually my first time trying to paint a feeling. It may not be as effective online, but when people see it in person, they always say "why is she crying?" or "why is her mouth taped up?" Some have even said "is she crying because she can't talk?" That one always makes me laugh, but I suppose it's a lot of the truth. It's just hilarious to me, because I always hear that in the literal sense. I can't say this one helped me deal, but it reminds me of the feeling. I'm not sure if that's good or bad yet, but it's an important part of what my life was like when I painted it, so it means something to me.

I absolutely love this piece. I love having her here with me, but I really wish she had a home. She deserves that. This piece was actually inspired by a photo of a girl showing her bakk tattoo. I nixed the tattoo and made the image my own. Those big red flowers REALLY pop and my wood grain is 3 varieties of awesome.

This piece is a bunch of things I like mushed together on one canvas. Let's start with my love of the S&M video. That's the pink zebra print, and the luscious red hair. The bubble gum...that's for me...and Beyonce. I love to see that woman chewing gum. Seriously. And the rest is all attitude and young and under dressed. I remember those days. *sigh* Did I tell ya'll how I released my belly button this year in order to reclaim my youth? Yeah, I brought it bakk for a repeat performance.

Aaaah...my dear Vivica. This one gave me a little trouble, but I loved her like she came easy. I gave this piece away too. I'm noticing a pattern here. I must do something about it. Anywho, I love her and she helped me to overcome my fear of pink nipples. Not really, but the painted ones at least.

This was originally supposed to be for a boutique. It was pink. I never heard bakk from the chikk that was interested (which is why I take my payments first), so I did what I wanted to do...right in the middle of working. I think I painted this during, or just after the latest season of "The Game" on BET. I never really cared for Janay, but I thought the chikk in the photo looked like her. The text is suitable for what was going on between her and Derwin at the time. So, that's the name I went with. *shrugs* I was going to sell it. Decided I liked it. Kept it. Not changing my mind.

Oh, how they raved about this piece. This was my first larger painting and oddly enough, it came very easy. It was very cooperative and it came out faaaabulous. I loved it and so did everyone else. I even heard it was my best piece EVER. I'm not sure if I agreed, but I did think it was pretty hot. At that time, it had been my most expensive piece. Somebody got a DEAL! lol. This one is definitely special.

This is maybe my favorite 36$5 piece. If not, it's pretty close. It was an experiment. I tried something new and it worked out well. I liked it so much, I painted an entire series of pictures with a similar style. I sold a few of the others, but I still have this one. I'm tempted to keep it.

I actually made this one and gave it away. It wasn't very difficult to make. It wasn't trying. It didn't argue with me. And it came out just the way I wanted. The first time. I got a really great response to. Everybody wanted one. Nobody ordered one. I feel some kinda way.

It's only right that the first piece be my first piece of the year. I made it for myself. I think I made it with the intent to keep it too. I love it. I got a lot of use out of it too! That makes me love it more. For those of you that had my number, *BOOM* was once my signature on my phone. The year before that it was *tikk tikk.* This year, it was silent. I guess that's what the aftermath sounds like.

My 12 days of Christmas...

It's been an interesting year for me. That's the short version. I may do a year in review later. We'll see. I really just wanted to take some time to talk about some of my favorite pieces this year. I've really stepped out of my comfort zone and in the most basic ways, it's paid off. So, for all the newbies, and those with short memories, I'm going to go through some of my most favorite work from this year. I'm going to post 1 picture every day for the next 12 days AND I'm going to have a sale too! 12% off everything while I go through the top 12. That's cool, right?

Choosing 12 pieces wasn't hard. However, it was difficult to rank them. I did my best. One of the most interesting things? The most common thread? I did whatever I wanted and liked what I came up with. I need more people to agree with me. :D
